What Does My Day Look Like?

What Does My Day Look Like?

People sometimes ask me: What’s a typical day in your life?

It’s a fair question. We all like to get a glimpse behind the scenes, to see how someone else fits the pieces of their life together. The honest answer, though, is that I don’t really have a typical day. Every single one is different, and that’s what I love most about my work and lifestyle. But if you’re curious, here’s a snapshot of how one particular day unfolded—a day that’s not exactly typical, but not entirely unusual either.

It started early. At 6am, I was up and moving, making sure my daughter was ready to head out for her basketball training. That meant ensuring she was awake, dressed, and out the door for her 7am session. Meanwhile, I was simultaneously corralling one son off his PlayStation and another out of bed so they could get ready for school. By 7:30, the house was quiet again, and I slipped on my trainers and headed out for a run.

When I got back, I usually take a moment for a cup of coffee and a barefoot walk in the garden, but today I went straight to the shower. Afterward, I grabbed something to eat and headed to a cafe. There, I had a virtual meeting with a client. My work involved preparing a financial forecast, mapping out income, projected expenses, and how much capital they’d need to sustain their business over the next five years. With the numbers in place and strategies outlined, it was on to the next meeting.

The second client session was face-to-face. This client runs a thriving business, but like many entrepreneurs, she was struggling with a sense of frustration. The money was coming in, but she wasn’t seeing the results she wanted in her personal accounts. Together, we dug into the underlying issues: mindset blocks, limiting beliefs, and the subtle self-sabotage that can happen when we’re carrying unresolved financial fears. It was an insightful conversation that moved beyond the spreadsheets to the deeper, more personal side of financial well-being.

In the afternoon, I caught up with a friend who was visiting from out of town. We sat together while our daughters browsed the shops, sharing a glass of wine and catching up on each other’s lives. By the time they left for their next catch up, I was feeling the effects of that wine more than I’d like (my tolerance isn’t what it used to be). So I ordered a coffee to reset before diving into the next round of tasks. Emails, admin, social media posts, and planning for the day ahead filled my evening until it was time to wind down, help my kids settle into their bedtime routine, and prepare for my own early night.

So, that’s what a “day in the life” might look like—though tomorrow it’ll be entirely different. I’ll be up early again, heading to Abu Dhabi for a UN Women’s conference, and the routine will shift once more. What stays consistent, however, is that I get to decide how my days unfold. I have the flexibility to balance my work, family, and personal time in a way that works best for me.

And that, to me, is the real reward: the freedom to create a life that feels right.
